At 852 metres above sea level, at the foot of the steeply rising Säntis, lies Urnäsch, your home for great family holidays in summer and winter. The stately Appenzell village has retained its original character. Well-kept cultural landscapes, an intact environment and thriving customs make Urnäsch a showcase for gentle, sustainable tourism. We also live among nature in the Reka Holiday Village. Here you can spend wonderful holidays with animals and as farmers, in the hayloft and in the middle of the petting zoo. Your children will love it!
Hiking, biking, snow sports, horse riding, themed trails, alpine ski runs, visits to farmers and forest rangers, traditional string music and interesting museums ... In the Appenzell hinterland there is always something exciting going on. And in the holiday village too there is no chance of boredom. We have an indoor swimming pool, trampoline, sand and water playgrounds, table tennis, table football, billiards, darts, beach volleyball, mini football and a treasure trove of Ravensburger games. And in the sauna with its relaxation room you can enjoy well-earned breaks. Because holidays with us are also holidays for parents. At the Rekalino we take care of the kids, with a great programme of activities, all included in the price.
In the Reka holiday village Urnäsch, 50 families find a cosy holiday home in the Minergie-Eco houses, which were built from local wood. The attractive wooden holiday apartements offer a relaxed atmosphere.
In our small animal stable and mini petting zoo, children get the chance to get up close and personal with the animal inhabitants of the holiday village. The children can come into contact with different animals, feed them, stroke them and get to know them better. Experiences like these are what the children will remember for a long time - often for a lifetime!

Kronberg
Visit Gonten's local mountain - the Kronberg. You can reach it comfortably by cable car Jakobsbad-Kronberg or by one of the numerous hiking trails. The Kronberg bob run and the Kronberg adventure park are located at the valley station. The barefoot trail also starts here and leads over 4.9 kilometres to Gontenbad. The Kronbergbahn accepts Reka money and gives each family a voucher for 1 free bobsleigh ride.

Wir schliessen nicht aus, nochmals Urnäsch zu buchen. Allerdings hatten wir die ganze Woche dicken Nebel (wofür Sie nichts können), das hat uns Grosseltern etwas betrübt. Aber umso mehr nutzten die Enkel die Kurse und das Hallenbad.

About the location
Your holiday accommodation in Urnäsch
Urnäsch, the beautiful village on the river with the same name in the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes, lies at the foot of the steeply towering Säntis mountain, nestling in green meadows and hilly countryside. In the Appenzell hinterland old customs are still proudly kept up and celebrated today. The lively village leads a busy economic life yet has all the same managed to protect its rural character and oriented itself early on towards soft, family-friendly tourism. Its well-known picturesque village square invites you to linger and the numerous walking trails, restaurants and attractions make time fly by.
There is a wide range of offers in Urnäsch. At the warmest time of year, there’s walking and cycling, and several theme walks are ready for you to discover. In addition, you can visit the Appenzell adventure farmhouses or the interesting museums.
In winter, the village offers something for numerous types of winter sports. In addition to the ski lift and cross-country trails, you will also find wonderful winter walking paths.
About the region
Eastern Switzerland is not the largest, but certainly one of the most diverse holiday regions in Switzerland. In Toggenburg you will be amazed by the mountains and largely untouched nature. The Appenzell region is famous for its landscape and customs as well as its cheese culture. St Gallen is regarded as an economic and cultural centre and is famous for its long-standing textile tradition, its car-free old town and its collegiate church and library, which are listed as a world heritage site. On clear and clean Lake Constance you can enjoy every possible kind of water activity, and the area is also very well set up for cycling.

A1 motorway from Zurich towards St. Gallen – exit for Gossau. Head towards Herisau-Waldstatt until you reach Urnäsch. The Reka holiday village Urnäsch is located approximately 100m below the Urnäsch railway station – directly on the left-hand side after the railway crossing.
